Summary
Jeremy
Hanlon began work part time at LBNL as an undergraduate in molecular
biology with interests in bioremediation. Upon receiving his
BA from UC Berkeley in 2001 he began work full time managing
the bioprocesses laboratory for William Stringfellow and assisting
with Nigel Quinn's real-time water quality monitoring in the San
Joaquin Valley. Over the past couple of years Jeremy has become
proficient at a variety of analytical techniques in chromatography
and spectroscopy while working on several projects including MTBE
removal from ground water, PAH and metabolite analysis of rat gut
extracts, DNA extraction from soil microbes, and natural attenuation
of chlorinated solvents in soil. Most recently he has been the
primary person responsible for collection, handling and processing
of environmental field samples for the Central Valley water quality
projects. Current research interests include understanding algal
biodiversity as it relates to water quality management practices
in the Central Valley.
